ESPN pundit shares who’s the bigger threat to Pep Guardiola… Liverpool or Arsenal

Nedum Onuoha has given his thoughts on the threats posed by Liverpool and Arsenal in this season’s Premier League title race.

Arsenal currently sit five points ahead of the Reds at the top of the table, albeit having played a game more. Manchester City are a further point behind Liverpool.

Despite their current third-placed position, City are still the favourites to win a fourth league title in a row.

As a former player at the Etihad, ESPN FC pundit Onuoha was asked who he’s more ‘scared of’ as a threat to City’s dominance this season.

“Who am I more scared of? I think Liverpool have the greater potential to win like 10 games in a row this season, whereas I think Arsenal could go 10 unbeaten,” explained the former England international.

“It’s that element of perfection which I think Liverpool do have within them. So I’d have to say them [Liverpool] for now.”

Liverpool scaring Onuoha

With just a minute or two left of Arsenal’s game against Luton Town last night, things were looking good for Liverpool.

Had the Hatters been able to hang onto their 3-3 scoreline, the Reds would have had the chance to go top of the league this evening.

However, Declan Rice struck to give the Gunners a vital win, and push them further clear in the lead.

Nevertheless, Liverpool shouldn’t be deterred. The truth is that although they keep grinding out wins, Arsenal really don’t look especially impressive.

Their goalkeeping situation is one that should instil hope in both Liverpool and City, while they still have to visit Anfield and the Etihad.

Having said that, there is plenty to fear about a team that keeps on winning whilst not playing well. Arsenal’s experience of running City relatively close last season will also surely help them.

But as Onuoha suggests, you just get the feeling that Liverpool still have the capability of going up another level. Arsenal seem to be stretching every sinew to get wins on the board at the moment. On the flip-side, this Reds team is nowhere near its peak.

We could be completely wrong of course, and Liverpool may even prove that as early as tonight’s game with Sheffield United. But for the time being, we’re minded to agree with Nedum on this one.
