Wataru Endo says Liverpool star is a nightmare to face in training

Wataru Endo has named Mohamed Salah as Liverpool’s hardest player to take on during training sessions at Kirkby.

The Japanese international joined the Reds this summer in a surprise deal from VfB Stuttgart, with Endo signing for a reported £16m seemingly out of nowhere.

Replacing the leadership vacuum left by Fabinho and Jordan Henderson, the 30-year-old midfielder has had a mixed spell at Liverpool, with Endo yet to really adjust to the Premier League.

However, that’s done little to ruin the former Bundesliga star’s reputation, with Endo quickly becoming a well-respected player in Liverpool’s squad, alongside other summer signings.

And speaking to the Times, Endo has now named Salah as the hardest Liverpool player to make in training, with the Egyptian winger still one of the best players on the planet.

Endo said on Salah in Liverpool training: “He’s not tall but he is very strong and knows how to keep the ball. It is very difficult to get it from him. But everybody is very high quality.”

The £34m AS Roma signing from 2017 has taken his game to a whole new level this season, with Salah adding more creative flair to his arsenal with Liverpool.

And for Endo, marking the attacker can be a major learning curve that will make the Japanese international better prepared for the Premier League in the upcoming weeks.

Indeed, Endo still needs some time before he is ready to dominate the English top-flight, with recent performances showing that the midfielder is grasping the ropes at Liverpool.

And marking the likes of Salah in training will help Endo in the long term, with the former Stuttgart star more than good enough to thrive in the Premier League with the Reds.
