Manchester City will reportedly rival Liverpool for OGC Nice midfielder Khephren Thuram in the January transfer window.

The France international is regarded by many as one of the most exciting prospects in all of Europe, with Thuram playing a key role in Nice’s brilliant start to the Ligue 1 season.

Labelled as ‘fantastic’ by former coach Didier Digard, Thuram’s form has caught the eye of Liverpool in recent weeks, with the Reds reportedly interested in signing the £60m-rated midfielder.

However, according to TV Play, Pep Guardiola’s City are now in the race for Thuram, with the Manchester giants keen to add to their midfield ranks in the January market.

Given City’s immense financial resources, there’s a good reason for Liverpool to be worried about the reigning Premier League champion’s interest in Thuram.

Moreover, with City stumbling onto a brilliant Ligue 1 export this summer in Jeremy Doku, a return to the French market for Thuram could be tempting for the Etihad Stadium side.

Thuram is on course to become one of the best midfielders in Europe at his current pace, with the Premier League seemingly the youngster’s most likely destination.

And for Liverpool, the Reds can’t allow City to beat them next month to Thuram’s signature, especially with the Anfield side desperate for midfield reinforcements.

Indeed, the Nice dynamo has everything needed to succeed at Liverpool, especially alongside the likes of Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister in the midfield.

Yet with City in the race, Liverpool face a big challenge now in winning the youngster’s signature, especially with the blue side of Manchester an appealing option.
