Kostas Tsimikas issues verdict on ‘exceptional’ Liverpool talent due to start vs Fulham

Kostas Tsimikas has issued his verdict on Caoimhin Kelleher, with the goalkeeping talent expected to start for Liverpool later today against Fulham.

The Republic of Ireland international is due to return to Jurgen Klopp’s Premier League starting XI this afternoon with Alisson Becker out on the sideline with a hamstring injury.

The 24-year-old has been a cup competition for Liverpool, featuring in every UEFA Europa League and League Cup fixture for the Reds, with Klopp lauding Kelleher this week as ‘exceptional’.

And now, speaking to the Mirror, Tsimikas has delivered his opinion on the Cork-born talent, with the Greek international a huge fan of Kelleher and the qualities the goalkeeper brings to Liverpool’s squad.

The defender said when asked about Kelleher’s upcoming run of games in the starting XI: “I always chat with Caoimhin at the training ground and we always try to make fun. He always smiles.

‌“For me personally, I feel very safe when he’s the goalie. I am really happy for him. To be at Liverpool it means he is a very good goalkeeper. That is why he is here.”

There’s no question that Kelleher is a talented goalkeeper, with Kelleher good enough to start as a no. 1 for the majority of Premier League clubs as well as some top European sides.

And today against Fulham could be a real turning point for Kelleher, with the Irish goalkeeper fully aware that this afternoon will be something quite special in his Liverpool career.

Kelleher has hardly featured in the Premier League since establishing himself as Liverpool’s main backup option to Alisson, and a big performance today can go a long way for the young goalkeeping talent.

And backing from the like of Tsimikas will be music to Kelleher’s ears, with the defender expected to start ahead of the Irishman in the Liverpool XI later today.
