Nedum Onuoha has said Jurgen Klopp has a perfect player already to replace Alisson Becker in Caoimhin Kelleher for Liverpool’s clash today against Fulham.

The Republic of Ireland international makes his first Premier League start this season with Alisson out through injury, with Kelleher starring for Liverpool in Europe and in cup competitions.

The 25-year-old is rated highly by Klopp, and according to Onuoha via BBC Radio Five Live, Kelleher is perfect to replace the £66m Liverpool star today against Fulham.

The pundit said about the Irishman starting against Fulham today: “Kelleher will have been preparing for this moment for some time.

“It is not like he is pushing and pushing Alisson for this starting spot, but he has performed well in the cups, has performed in finals and helped them to achieve what they have in recent years, win trophies.

“He now has the opportunity to start today in the league. Jurgen Klopp knows that he has a reliable number two ready and waiting to step in when he needs him.”

Replacing a player as good as Alisson is no small feat for any goalkeeper, yet having trained with the Brazilian star for years, Kelleher knows he can do the job for Liverpool.

And today’s chance against Fulham is exactly what the Irish international will need if he is to make something of his Liverpool career.

Indeed, Kelleher has shown that he is a brilliant goalkeeper when given the opportunity to impress, and this afternoon could not be more important for the 25-year-old.

A good performance today can go a long way for Kelleher, and Alisson will be keen to see how his understudy does today for Liverpool against Fulham.
