Liverpool take on Fulham on Sunday with the chance to continue their excellent home form.
Last night’s Europa League win over LASK means the Reds’ extended their perfect record at Anfield. Played 10, won 10. It doesn’t get much better than that.
Fulham will have their tails up too though, having beaten Wolves via a last-minute winner on Monday. They’ll have to be dealt with.
And speaking on his Seaman Says podcast, former England goalkeeper David Seaman has backed Liverpool to do just that.
“Bernd Leno’s going to be a very busy man,” predicted the 60-year-old. “I’ll go 4-1 Liverpool.”
“That’s massive,” Seaman then added.
Seaman predicts ‘massive’ Liverpool win
The last time Fulham came to Anfield it was the exact opposite of what Seaman is predicting on Sunday.
Marco Silva’s side frustrated the Reds, with a Mohamed Salah penalty the narrow difference between the teams.
That was all that separated them across both fixtures in 2022/23, with the return game at Craven Cottage ending in a morale-sapping 2-2 draw on the first game of the Premier League season.
But this year, you’d hope that things will be different.
On the one hand, Liverpool are obviously looking much better than they were back in May. You’d back them against just about anyone at the moment, especially at Anfield.
And on the other, Fulham aren’t quite as good as the team who pushed Liverpool so close last year.
Currently sitting in 14th, the Cottagers look a much more flimsy version of the iteration who managed a 10th-place finish last time out.
The loss of Aleksandar Mitrovic has hit them hard, but they still have quality sprinkled within the side. Not least in former Liverpool target Joao Palhinha, who many would love to see playing in red on Sunday.
Fingers crossed this is a difficult day at the office for the Portuguese, though. Let’s hope Seaman is spot on.
