TalkSport pundit names 23-year-old Liverpool player as one of the surprises of the season

Tony Cascarino has named Dominik Szoboszlai as one of the surprises of the Premier League this season after joining Liverpool this summer.

Speaking on TalkSport, the pundit was full of praise for the 23-year-old Reds midfielder, who since arriving at Anfield has been a revelation for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Szoboszlai joined Liverpool in a £60m deal from RB Leipzig this summer, and Cascarino has now named the Hungarian international as one of the best surprises in the Premier League.

Cascarino said: “I’ll probably go for Szoboszlai at Liverpool. There’s a bit of bias in there, obviously. But I do think they’ve got way more than they thought they’ve got.

“I think they knew he was a really good attacking midfielder with bundles of pace. I think he’s really arrived at Liverpool and set a new standard. Remember, that whole midfield was dismantled.

“And Liverpool needed to rebuild. And I thought he’s come in and he’s looked from the very first game that he’s going to be a hell of a player for Liverpool over the next five or six years.”

Liverpool struck gold with Szoboszlai this summer

Winning praise from the likes of Harvey Elliott and Paul Merson in recent weeks, it’s quite obvious to say that Szoboszlai has been a smash hit in the Premier League at Liverpool.

The creative midfielder seemingly can’t do much wrong under Klopp, with Szoboszlai’s passing, shooting and work-rate all being praised to heaven and back this season.

Whilst £60m was quite the outlay to put down for Szoboszlai, the gamble has worked out tenfold already for Liverpool, who have landed a real superstar in the Hungarian.

Aged just 23, there’s no telling how far Szoboszlai can go at Liverpool, yet early signs suggest that the midfielder can become a real superstar for the Anfield giants in this new era for the club.
