Liverpool are reportedly hardly pushing to sign Andre Trindade despite being strongly linked with a move for the midfielder in recent weeks.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Reds are yet to start negotiating for the 22-year-old Fluminense star, even with Liverpool believed to be the favourites to sign Andre.
With the likes of Arsenal also interested in the youngster, this update is a blow for Liverpool fans, who have recently thought that their side were leading the charge for the Brazilian.
However, it now appears that Liverpool’s pursuit for the midfielder has cooled, and the Reds are now losing some ground in the race for Andre heading into January.
Romano said: “For Liverpool, he remains a player who is appreciated, but he’s not a priority. At the moment Liverpool are not negotiating or pushing.
“He’s a player Liverpool know very well because they wanted to sign him in August, but it’s not something that’s happening right now and there are other clubs in the race for Andre.”
Liverpool can’t afford to miss out on Andre
Lauded by Romano as a ‘special’ player, it’s clear that Andre is ready to take Europe by storm having made quite a name for himself in the last 12 months in South America with Fluminense.
And for Liverpool, they simply can’t afford to miss out on Andre this January, with the midfielder exactly what Jurgen Klopp is looking for in a defensive midfield signing.
Whilst it might make some sense as to why the Reds have taken their foot off the gas a little bit for Andre, it doesn’t excuse the fact that negotiations have now seemingly stopped.
Indeed, Liverpool need midfield reinforcements this January, and Andre is too good an option to miss out on, especially with rival Premier League clubs already in the race.
