Chelsea have reportedly spoken to Assane Diao’s family over a potential transfer, with Liverpool also interested in the Real Betis winger.
According to Estadio Deportivo, the Blues have opened up dialogue with the teenager’s agent and family heading into the January window, with Diao attracting a lot of transfer interest.
As per the report, Liverpool are firmly in the race to sign the winger, with Manchester United also keen on bringing Diao to the Premier League in 2024.

With a release clause worth €30m (£25m), a deal in January could now be on the cards for Chelsea, with Diao potentially open to a move to west London in the new year.
As a result, Liverpool could be in trouble in their own attempts to sign Diao, who could be a dream long-term signing for Jurgen Klopp’s side with Mohamed Salah due to leave next summer.
Indeed, Diao signing for Chelsea would be a massive blow for the Reds, and Liverpool can’t allow a Premier League rival to beat them in the market to the Spanish youngster.
Liverpool must do all they can to beat Chelsea to Diao

Chelsea have become something of a hoarder for world football’s best young prospects under Todd Bohely, and their spending is now expected to continue in 2024 for Diao.
The attacker is one of Europe’s most exciting prospects, and for Liverpool, they simply can’t allow Diao to end up at Chelsea, especially when the winger’s release clause is as low as it is.
With Salah due to leave Anfield next year, Diao could be an exciting long-term replacement for the Liverpool superstar, especially at just £25m.
Yet none of that will mean anything if the Reds can’t beat Chelsea to Diao’s signature, with the race for the youngster expected to crank up quite a bit in the coming weeks.
