New reports have suggested that Athletic Bilbao’s contract talks with Nico Williams, who was linked to Liverpool earlier this year, have stalled.
It was recently reported by journalist Graeme Bailey on the Talking Transfers Podcast that Liverpool were interested in Nico Williams; however, they are not the only club interested.
Now, new reports from El Correo suggest that contract talks between Williams and Spanish club Athletic Bilbao have stalled and this has seen question marks raised over his future at the club.
Apparently, the two parties did make progress; however, there are issues and the contract talks have stalled. There is apparently no immediate resolution in sight.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is no doubt always wanting new additions, and the potential signing of Williams makes a lot of sense.
The ‘incredible‘ forward is fast, good on the ball and also a decent finisher. He has 25 goal contributions in his 95 appearances for his current club.
With players like Mohamed Salah still playing at such a high level, it makes sense for younger stars like Williams, who is only 21 years-old, to be signed and be ready for when the top stars at the Premier League club eventually depart.
Williams also has 10 appearances for Spain and he is clearly deemed as a top talent for both the present and the future.
It looks like Liverpool are clearly wanting to sign an attacker, with Bayern Munich star Leroy Sane also linked to the Premier League side.
It will be interesting to see who Liverpool end up buying. The contract of Williams is actually expiring in June 2024, so if his current talks with Bilbao continue to stall then Liverpool could end up signing a great player on a free transfer.
