Liverpool returned to winning ways in the Premier League as the Reds secured a 1-0 win at Anfield against Brentford.
Here’s how Jurgen Klopp’s side performed on Merseyside in what could be a massive result for Liverpool in their bid to challenge for the Premier League title.
Defence
Alisson Becker: 7 – Whilst Brentford didn’t test Liverpool too badly, the Bees still had chances to cause some real damage, though Alisson Becker was at his world-class best again today to keep a clean sheet.
Trent Alexander-Arnold: 6 – Despite rumours of a switch to midfield, Trent Alexander-Arnold started in his natural right-back position, though Brentford did enjoy some good moments down the fullback’s flank.
Joel Matip: 6 – Replacing the injured Ibrahima Konate, Joel Matip did just enough to stop Brentford’s attackers from causing havoc, with the defender looking sketchy in some parts against the Bees.
Virgil van Dijk: 7 – Another professional performance from Virgil van Dijk, who was as titanic as ever at the back as Brentford fizzled out fo the game quickly in the second-half.

Kostas Tsimikas: 8 – A much-needed good performance for Kostas Tsimikas as the Greek international played a key role in Mohamed Salah’s second goal for Liverpool as well as assisting Diogo Jota. Jurgen Klopp will be pleased with how the defender played today.
Midfield
Dominik Szoboszlai: 6 – A rare quiet day for Dominik Szoboszlai as the Hungarian international was forced into a more defensive role alongside Wataru Endo, though the midfielder impressed against a wasteful Brentford side.

Wataru Endo: 7 – After Thursday night’s disasterclass, a good performance was needed from Wataru Endo, and the midfielder delivered, with the £16m summer signing putting in one of his best displays yet as a Liverpool player with an imperious.
Cody Gakpo: 7 – Starting in the midfield three, Cody Gakpo did a solid job in an unfamiliar position alongside Dominik Szoboszlai and Wataru Endo, with the Dutch international impressing in an advanced central role.
Attack

Mohamed Salah: 8 – As efficient as always as the Egyptian winger secured the win for Liverpool with his 11th and 12th goals of the season respectively.
Darwin Nunez: 7 – One of Darwin Nunez’s unluckiest games to date as the striker had two goals ruled by VAR for offside. The attacker was sensational once again for Liverpool, yet things just didn’t go the forward’s way.
Diogo Jota: 6 – Despite making the scoresheet with an outstanding goal, it was a game to forget for Diogo Jota, who will be displeased with how quiet he was for most of the fixture against Brentford.
Subs
Harvey Elliott: 6 – Did well late on to test Mark Flekken and to help Liverpool confirm their 3-0 win.
Luis Diaz: – N/A.
Jarell Quansah: – N/A.
James McConnell: – N/A
