Liverpool have confirmed their starting XI to face Brentford as Jurgen Klopp looks to end his side’s two-game winless street at Anfield.

Here’s how the Reds will line up against the Bees in what could be an entertaining Premier League clash this afternoon on Merseyside.

Liverpool starting XI to face Brentford: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk, Tsimikas; Endo, Szoboszlai, Gakpo; Salah, Nunez, Jota

The question of who will start in Liverpool’s midfield was always going to be an interesting one, yet few would have expected Cody Gakpo to get the nod.

The £43m Dutch international has been tried out before in the position by Jurgen Klopp, yet against a side like Brentford, the Liverpool winger will have his work cut out for him.

Indeed, another surprise decision is Wataru Endo keeping his spot in the XI, with the Japanese international struggling massively midweek against Toulouse.

Surrounded by a better XI, though, could help the midfielder this afternoon at Anfield, yet Endo will need to impress if he is to win Liverpool fans on his side today against Brentford.

Should Liverpool stray from their 4-3-3 formation to a 4-2-3-1, the Reds could have a chance against the Bees, though it’s clear that their midfield options could dictate today’s result.
