Jay Spearing lauds ‘revelation’ as Liverpool name academy star on bench vs Brentford

Jay Spearing has hailed Trey Nyoni as the academy star was today named on Liverpool’s bench to face Brentford in the Premier League.

Speaking to the club’s official Twitter account, the former Anfield midfielder was full of praise for the 16-year-old, who only joined Liverpool this summer yet has already made quite a name for himself.

Nyoni has been seen training with Jurgen Klopp’s seniors having joined from Leicester City this summer, with the midfielder now part of a Premier League matchday squad.

And Spearing has been impressed with what he has seen from Nyoni, with the academy coach playing a key role in the youngster’s rapid climb in Liverpool’s ranks.

Spearing said when asked about Nyoni’s development at Liverpool: “He’s been fantastic since he’s come in, he’s hit the ground running and been a revelation.

“His game understanding for somebody so young is incredible. His weight of pass, everything about it. He’s a really talented boy.”

Brentford call-up is only just the start for Nyoni at Liverpool

Nyoni arrived on Merseyside this summer with a massive reputation, and it seems like the youngster is already living up to the hype at Liverpool.

The 16-year-old is very much at the start of his senior career with the Reds, and it might not be long until the teenager becomes a regular staple for Klopp in the Premier League.

Indeed, the midfielder has the potential to become a superstar for Liverpool, and Nyoni will want to keep on impressing behind the scenes in order to win the favour of his senior teammates.
