TNT Sports pundits Rachel Brown-Finnis and Joe Cole both agree that Wataru Endo was lucky not to be sent off for Liverpool against Toulouse.

Speaking during the UEFA Europa League coverage of the match, the duo were both shocked that the Japanese international was not sent off for Liverpool in the opening half.

Endo was booked for a cynical tackle that could have seen the £16m summer arrival sent off in France, with the midfielder somehow getting away with another challenge just moments later.

Given what happened last night with Marcus Rashford, it’s a shock that Endo was not shown a red, with Brown-Finnis and Cole slamming the Liverpool star.

Brown-Finnis said on Endo’s tackling in the first-half: “He should be off the pitch. I don’t want him to be off, but he should be. That was cynical.”

Cole later added with: “Novell, Toulouse’s manager, should be getting right into the referee’s face, Endo should be sent off. It’s a terrible decision.”

Being hooked off at halftime summed up the night perfectly for Endo, who is still yet to really look the part for Liverpool since joining the Reds.

The defensive midfielder was always going to be a risky signing having signed from relative obscurity, and Endo’s performances are yet to reflect the midfielder’s true ability.

Indeed, the Japanese international knows he has what it takes to star for Liverpool, and fans could now begin to turn on the midfielder if his performances don’t begin to improve.
