Lauded by Gary O’Neil as an ‘incredible’ player, Kelly could be quite the signing for Reds if they can beat out Premier League opposition for the defender’s signature.

However, this latest update no strongly indicates that Tottenham are the favourites to sign Kelly, with the north London side as appealing as they have been in some years.

Indeed, Liverpool could have been perfect for Kelly given their need for quality defensive cover, but the allure of Tottenham could be tempting for the former Bristol City star.

For many, Kelly is one of the best defenders in the bottom-half of the Premier League, with the versatile centre-back a player who could do a job for a top-six side.

And for Liverpool, they can’t allow a rival club in Tottenham to sign the 25-year-old, with Kelly a target who is perfect for what Jurgen Klopp needs in 2024.

Defensive cover will be key for Liverpool if they’re tor really challenge for the title this season, and Kelly will provide just that and more if they can wrap up a deal ahead of Tottenham in January.
