Liverpool legend Roberto Firmino has raved about the power of Anfield, after leaving the club during the summer.
It has now been almost six months since Firmino was given his last taste of Liverpool’s iconic home ground. The place just isn’t the same without him.
During his time at the club, it became obvious that the Brazilian had built up a truly special connection with the Reds fans within the ground. So special was his time at the club, that Firmino has penned a new book on his Liverpool years. With the book out tomorrow, The Daily Mail today carry an excerpt that will leave Reds supporters longing for Bobby.
“There’s no place like home. And Anfield will always be home to me,” says the 32-year-old. “There are football grounds and then there’s Anfield. There are many fanatical, loyal, noisy sets of fans. Where there’s football, there’s passion. But I can tell you, at Anfield, things are different.”
Firmino goes on to detail what his countrymen from rival teams used to say when visiting the famous old ground.
“Listen to my Brazilian friends, rivals from other clubs. They always told me how tough it is to play at Anfield!” he says. “Tough for them; a blessing for us. In success and failure, at Anfield I always felt loved. I always had my special place and they never wanted me to leave it.”
Bobby looks back on Anfield days
Firmino is absolutely right: he will always be at home at Anfield.
Players come and go for football fans, that’s the nature of the game. But there are some that truly leave an impact and come to feel almost like family members for a whole fanbase.
Bobby was one of those players for Liverpool supporters.
He may not be the most celebrated player of the Jurgen Klopp era. Others scored more goals than him, assisted more or were recognised with greater personal honours.

But none held the love of the Kop like Firmino did, and still does.
If the Brazilian ever finds himself back at Anfield – and hopefully he does at some point – he’ll be given an almighty reception.
This club never forgets its heroes. And although he’s now departed, what Bobby achieved has already passed into legend.
As for the Brazilian visitors to Anfield, of course they found it tough. Liverpool have only lost one Premier League game at the ground in the past three-and-a-half years. It’s not an easy place to go!
