Harvey Elliott has detailed his shock at how his Liverpool move came about, with the midfielder signing for the Reds as a teenager in 2019.
Speaking to the Liverpool Echo, the 20-year-old England youth international revealed that he didn’t think his move to Liverpool was actually happening when he first heard of interest.
Coming through at Fulham, Elliott made history as the youngest player ever to feature in a Premier League match as a 16-year-old, with the wonderkid making the move to Liverpool the following summer.
A boyhood Red, Elliott has since developed into one of Liverpool’s most exciting youngsters and a player who has shown real promise under Jurgen Klopp in this new era of the club.
Indeed, Elliott is on course to become a staple for Liverpool as well as the England senior team, and the playmaker was amazed that a move to his boyhood club even materialised.
Elliott said: “I didn’t think it was real! I can’t really put it into words. Coming home from holiday to finalise the deal. It was all just a dream come true.”
Elliott will want to become a legend at Liverpool
Having secured his dream move so early in his career, Elliott will now want nothing more than to become a legend at Liverpool in the coming years.
It’s quite easy to forget just how young Elliott still is having been a regular for Klopp in the last two years, with the 20-year-old the third youngest senior player in the squad behind Ben Doak and Stefan Bajcetic.
And with Elliott as experienced as he is already in the Premier League, claiming the status of ‘Liverpool legend’ could be attainable, with the midfielder yet to even hit his true potential.
