Alexis Mac Allister says he’s a big fan of £8m player who Liverpool want to sign

Alexis Mac Allister has lauded Boca Juniors teenager Valentin Barco, with Liverpool reportedly interested in the Argentine fullback.

Speaking to Dataref, the Anfield midfielder praised the 19-year-old defender, who according to the Daily Star is a target for Liverpool, with Manchester City also interested in Barco.

The left-back is regarded by many as one of South America’s most exciting prospects, with Barco reportedly having a release clause of just £8m as claimed by 90min.

And Mac Allister is a big fan, with the Liverpool midfielder saying about Barco: “I had the chance to see him and I’m not saying anything new when I say he’s a great player.

“He has a lot of ability and even when it looks like the opponents are going to take the ball away from him, nobody can take it away from him. He’s still young and we have to take it little by little.

“I see him very focused, even if sometimes on the pitch he sometimes throws a little bit too much. He can be a very important player for our country and represent us very well in Europe.”

As one of the most exciting prospects in South America, it’s perhaps no real surprise why Liverpool are interested in signing Barco, who could be viewed as a long-term replacement for Andy Robertson.
