Daniel Sturridge has praised the threat carried by Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez.
Nunez has once again come under the spotlight this week, after a series of disappointing misses arguably cost Liverpool two points against Luton Town.
But appearing as a guest on Sky Sports Premier League last night, former Reds striker Sturridge said that although the 24-year-old could do with improving his finishing, he’s still a ‘defender’s nightmare.’
Asked whether Nunez represents the ‘future’ for Liverpool, Sturridge was in no doubt.
“Absolutely,” replied the 34-year-old. “I think he brings an excitement and aggression in attack. He’s an exciting player to watch and is a defender’s nightmare.
“Of course, he needs to improve his finishing which will come in time. But the type of player he is, he is going to get a lot of opportunities in games.”
Sturridge offers Darwin verdict
If you haven’t watched the full analysis of Nunez from Sturridge, then it’s well worth checking out this morning.
The former Liverpool hit-man gave a really interesting insight into the Uruguayan’s style of play, and what he can potentially do to improve his finishing.
In fact, having taken in Sturridge’s assessment, perhaps Jurgen Klopp should be getting on the phone to the former England striker.
Liverpool could do a lot worse than getting Daniel in to give a few pointers to Darwin.

Although injuries ultimately punctuated his Anfield career, Sturridge was one of the most efficient frontmen Liverpool have ever had.
Quick, tall, strong and ruthless in-front of goal, there’s a lot Nunez could learn from the Reds’ Champions League winner.
Nevertheless, there shouldn’t be too much of a downer on Darwin. We all know he’s a work in progress, it’s part of the reason we all love him so much.
Sunday wasn’t his best day at the office, but if he doesn’t follow it up with a goal in his next Reds outing, we’d be surprised. You can’t keep Liverpool’s No.9 down for long.
