Assan Ouedraogo reportedly has a release clause of just €7m (£5m), with Liverpool interested in signing the Schalke 04 wonderkid.

According to Sport, the teenage midfielder has an exit clause that will activate next summer, with Liverpool one of the many clubs interested in signing Ouedraogo.

The 17-year-old has been one of the breakout stars in the 2.Bundesliga this season, with the Bundesliga’s official website labelling Ouedraogo as an ‘explosive’ player.

And with news now breaking that Ouedraogo’s release clause once he turns 18 is now as low as £5m, the clamour to sign the youngster could be biblical.

Indeed, Liverpool were one of the first clubs to register an interest in Ouedraogo, though the Reds could now be behind rival sides in the race to sign the youngster.

The likes of AC Milan Bayern Munich, Brighton & Hove Albion have all been linked with Ouedraogo, and Liverpool might struggle to lure the midfielder to Anfield despite their reputation.

Liverpool have made a name for themselves in recent years in trying to sign Europe’s best and brightest youngsters with the hope that they can develop into first-team players.

And although Ouedraogo could become a regular for Liverpool, there’s no real guarantee that the German teenager will reach the level of a Harvey Elliott or Curtis Jones.

At £5m, Ouedraogo is a great risk to take for a club like Liverpool, but the player himself might not be so sold on a move to the Premier League giants if he can’t get minutes from the start.
