Ally McCoist has said that Darwin Nunez needs to improve his finishing after Liverpool’s 1-1 draw against Luton Town on Sunday.

Speaking on TalkSport, the Scottish pundit questioned the Uruguay international’s efforts in front of goal at the weekend, with Nunez missing a sitter for Liverpool at Kenilworth Road.

The striker had numerous chances to put the Reds ahead, but the 24-year-old forward was missing his shooting boots as Nunez ended the game without putting his name on the scoresheet.

Having started the season with a bang, Nunez’s performance was quite disappointing and reminiscent of what the attacker was like last season.

Indeed, Nunez clearly has the potential to become a world-class goalscorer in the Premier League, and McCoist thinks the striker needs to improve the quality of his finishing if he is to succeed.

The pundit said when asked about what Nunez has to do to get better at Liverpool: “He has to improve his quality of finishing, but I love the fact that he’s always there.”

Nunez is well on track to beat his record of 15 goals for Liverpool last season, yet the attacker knows that consistency will be his best friend this campaign.

The Uruguay international is yet to get out of the funk of missing sitters at key moments in game, with Nunez’s miss yesterday a big reason why the points were shared at Luton.

There’s no denying that Nuenz can become a superstar for Liverpool, yet the striker has to be consistent if he’s to get anywhere at Anfield this season.
