Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze shares what he really thinks about Darwin Nunez’s shooting for Liverpool

Crystal Palace midfielder Eberechi Eze has given his thoughts on Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez.

Nunez has been in superb form for Liverpool this season, bagging seven goals and generally looking like a man reborn.

The Uruguayan isn’t for everyone though, with plenty on the outside critical of certain aspects of his game. And according to Eze, this has perhaps led to Nunez’s shooting in particular being underrated.

Taking part in a game of ‘Higher or Lower’ for Sky Sports Premier League, Eze is asked whether he thinks Nunez’s shooting is rated higher or lower than Marcus Rashford’s in the new EAFC video game.

“Lower,” Eze correctly guesses, with Rashford rated 86 and the Liverpool man 81. Then asked to compare Newcastle United’s Callum Wilson with Nunez, the England midfielder predicts Wilson to be rated higher, which he is on 82. Asked whether he thinks his England teammate has been underrated, he suggests that Liverpool’s No.9 has, too.

“81’s a bit low for Darwin,” says the 25-year-old. “I don’t know what [rating] I’d give him, but I think 81, 82 for these guys…”

Eze rates Nunez’s shooting

It’s fair to say that in the wider footballing world, just about everything Nunez does is underrated.

As seen by the ironic jeers from the Bournemouth fans when the 24-year-old mis controlled a pass on Wednesday night, fans across the country see Darwin as a bit of a clown.

That he then proceeded to smash a wonder strike into the top corner following the jeers made the goal all the sweeter.

And it also showed that despite what others think about him, Liverpool fans are starting to see the truth: this guy is something special.

Darwin’s shooting may not always be clean or accurate, but when it is there’s no stopping it.

Because of his innate ability to create chances for himself, Nunez’s efforts on goal don’t always have to perfect anyway.

Even if he misses one, chances are that he’ll find himself with another opportunity not too long after. More often than not, he’ll bury the next one.

Nunez may not always be appreciated by the wider world, but that doesn’t really matter. Fellow players like Eze can see his qualities and he’s absolutely adored by the Anfield crowd. One of these days everyone else is going to cotton on to how good he is. For their own teams, it will be too late.
