Joshua Kimmich is reportedly showing no sign of signing a new contract at Bayern Munich, with Liverpool linked with the midfielder this summer.

According to Sport1, the Germany international is as unlikely as ever to sign a fresh terms with the Bundesliga giants, with Kimmich’s contract due to expire in 2025.

Lauded by former Bayern manager Julian Nagelsmann as a ‘world-class’ player in both midfield at at fullback, Kimmich leaving Thomas Tuchel’s side would be quite the revelation.

And Liverpool could now be a destination for Kimmich, with Jurgen Klopp’s side still in the market for a midfielder despite signing four in the summer transfer window.

Indeed, the 28-year-old is in the prime of his career and could be tempted by a new challenge in football, with the Premier League an obvious destination.

And with Liverpool expected to lose Thiago Alcantara in the summer, Kimmich could be a dream replacement for the Reds in terms of world-class quality and a veteran figure in the midfield ranks.

Kimmich leaving Bayern feels like an unlikely prospect despite the rumours that are now circulating in Germany, yet Liverpool must remain alert.

The Reds know that a player like Kimmich can take their midfield from a good one into arguably the best in all of the Premier League, matched only by Manchester City.

And if Kimmich does snub Bayern’s latest contract proposal, Liverpool have to ensure they’re at the front of the queue to sign the midfield general, with Jurgen Klopp potentially a big fan of the German.
