Wataru Endo has admitted that Jurgen Klopp was a big factor in his decision to join Liverpool.

Endo arrived at Anfield in a surprise deal from Stuttgart this summer. Since then, the 30-year-old has been slowly integrating himself into the squad.

And having now been at Liverpool for a couple of months, Endo has spoken to Sky Sports about his settling in period.

Asked about the influence of Klopp in his decision to swap the Bundesliga for the Premier League, Endo shared a nice little anecdote.

“It made the decision easier for me, because when I was young my former Japanese trainer loved his [Klopp’s] football when he was in Dortmund, and we all watched his games,” admitted the midfielder. A dream come true, then.

Endo admits Klopp influence

Endo won’t have been the first player convinced to join Liverpool because of Klopp. As one of the best managers of his generation, Jurgen should be a huge pull for anyone.

With respect to Endo, he shouldn’t have needed all that much convincing to make a once in a lifetime move to Liverpool.

But because of his status as Stuttgart captain, it will have still been a difficult decision to make.

After arriving in 2019 Endo forced his way into the team at the MHPArena. Rising up to skipper the side, he was clearly hugely popular amongst fans and teammates alike.

To leave all that behind for a place as a squad player in a new country must have been a little daunting. So, once again, Liverpool have Klopp to thank.

It’s one thing knowing what to expect from the German’s style of play and approach to management, but it must also be comforting to players to know that he isn’t going to be sacked.

How often do we see a player brought into a club by a manager, only for that coach to be dismissed not long after. That kind of scenario isn’t uncommon at all and can leave players in serious limbo.

For Endo and all potential signings at Liverpool, they know virtually for certain that this isn’t going to be the case.

As a result, Klopp’s mere presence should be enough to get plenty of deals their final approval. It did the trick for Endo, and he’s unlikely to be the last one Jurgen convinces.
