Liverpool could have the opportunity to sign reported target Dani Olmo for just £52m next year.
According to 90min, the Reds were scouting Olmo last season as part of their information-gathering on former RB Leipzig teammate Dominik Szoboszlai.
Although he looked ready for a move away from the Bundesliga in the summer, the 25-year-old stayed put in Leipzig.
As per journalist Fabrizio Romano though, things could look different for Olmo next year. Writing in his Daily Briefing today, Romano reiterates that an active release clause is likely to see the Spain international on the market in 2024.
“As I reported at the beginning of June, there’s a release clause for €60m [£52m] starting from 2024; it was not available this summer,” says the transfer expert.
“I think it’s a possibility for him to leave next summer but not something advanced or guaranteed yet, too early; also, he’s now injured.”
Olmo on the market next year
As Liverpool look ahead to potentially having to replace Mohamed Salah, they’ll be digging into the forward market.
All manner of players will no doubt be looked at and considered, and Olmo should definitely be one of them.
The Spaniard has been one of the most promising young attackers for years now. At 25, he looks primed to take the next step in his career.
For £52m, Liverpool will be hard-pushed to find better quality.

However, there are some issues with this potential signing. The main one being that Olmo is usually deployed as a left-sided forward for Leipzig.
Being right-footed, he wouldn’t be the direct, natural successor to Salah that Liverpool could really do with. Unless the Reds plan on changing their shape if Mo leaves, they’ll need a left-footer.
With Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota, Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo all options on the left, Liverpool don’t really need another one. All of that quartet are also more prolific than Olmo.
Nevertheless, the price will surely make the former Dinamo Zagreb youngster attractive to the Reds in one way or another. They have a superb relationship with Leipzig, too. One to keep an eye on for 2024, this.
