Liverpool are on course to sign Fluminense midfielder Andre Trindade in the January transfer window.
The Reds have been heavily linked with Andre ever since the summer. But with Fluminense unwilling to sell the 22-year-old mid-season, he stayed in Brazil.
Having helped his club to Saturday’s Copa Libertadores final though, Andre looks set to leave for Europe in the New Year.
And speaking on the Fully Loaded Transfer Show – a Newcastle United based podcast – journalist Graeme Bailey let slip that the Brazilian is ‘probably’ joining Liverpool.
“There’s the Copa Libertadores final at the weekend and there are a couple of players Newcastle have been linked with,” Bailey explained.
“Valentin Barco at Boca and also Andre the midfielder in there who is probably going to go to Liverpool in January.”
Andre on his way to Liverpool?
Given the way this saga has played out, it would be extremely disappointing not to see Liverpool bring Andre to Anfield next year.
Prior to the links in the summer, plenty of Reds supporters wouldn’t have heard of the Fluminense man. But they have now, and they’re mighty excited by him.
And why wouldn’t they be? At 22, Andre looks ready to come in and make an instant impact for Liverpool. Journalist Fabrizio Romano is just one of his fans, labelling the Flu midfielder as ‘special’ on a recent edition of the Here We Go podcast.
As Jurgen Klopp searches for the right man to solve his defensive midfield problem, the Brazil international could very well be that guy.

Certainly, if another Premier League team – such as Newcastle – were to sneak in and grab him, Reds fans would be distraught.
Thankfully, it seems pretty much accepted knowledge that Liverpool currently lead the chase.
If the Reds still want Andre, there doesn’t seem to be a great deal standing in their way of making it happen.
With just a couple of months until January and the Copa final on Saturday this is going to start to heat up over the next few weeks.
