James McConnell has revealed that Harvey Elliott is helping the Liverpool teenager in training.
Speaking to the Reds’ official website, the 19-year-old midfielder said that the Liverpool first-teamer was giving him tips and advice in training, with McConnell breaking into the senior squad this season.
McConnell said: “They [his teammates] also give me little tips. For instance, Harvey was helping me when I was a bit unaware of some of the positional stuff.”

Making his debut under Jurgen Klopp last week in the UEFA Europa League, McConnell is one of Liverpool’s best-rated youngsters and a player who could feature tonight in the League Cup.
And getting advice from Elliott will be a major positive, with Rio Ferdinand recently lauding the Liverpool youngster as ‘tremendous’ after his cameo against Everton in the Premier League.
Indeed, the 20-year-old midfielder has seemingly taken on a leadership role amongst Liverpool’s younger players, and McConnell is now benefitting from Elliott’s training.

Leadership is hard to develop in certain players, yet for Elliott, the youngster seems to have picked up the trait naturally having broken into the senior game at such a young age.
And the England youth international is now sharing his wisdom to fellow youngsters, with McConnell now learning from the Liverpool star.
Small steps like this can lead to big change in development, and McConnell being tutored by Elliott will be key in the teenager’s rise to the senior squad.
