Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai has sent a strong message ahead of tonight’s Carabao Cup clash with Bournemouth.
Szoboszlai looks set for a rest this evening, with Jurgen Klopp likely to put out a second-string side against the Cherries.
But judging from his words in an interview with Hungarian outlet Sportal, it sounds like the 23-year-old is angling for some time on the pitch. Asked about the prospect of facing Hungary national team colleague and Bournemouth defender Milos Kerkez, Szoboszlai sent a clear message to the 19-year-old.
“I want him to pray that I don’t play,” says he Reds No.8. Wow!
Szoboszlai sends Kerkez warning
There are many reasons why Szoboszlai has so quickly won the Liverpool fans over. And this unshakable confidence in himself is one of them.
Some will perceive it as arrogance, but you can already see that Dom has a mischievous side. This was all very tongue in cheek.
Nevertheless, he also believes entirely in what he’s saying. Szoboszlai is aware of his gifts and knows that he can do some real damage in any game he plays in.
When he inevitably wreaks havoc on any opponent, it isn’t a surprise to the former RB Leipzig man.
Unfortunately for Szoboszlai though, we don’t think he’ll get the chance to torment his countryman against Bournemouth today.
Klopp does have a decision to make in the midfield, with one of Szobo, Alexis Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch likely to start.

But having played every minute of Premier League action so far this season, Dom is the least likely to feature.
By the looks of things, that will be a disappointment to him.
At least Szoboszlai already had the chance to come up against Kerkez already this season. He was supreme while making his Anfield debut against the £15.5m left-back and the Cherries back in August.
He’ll be one to keep an eye on when Liverpool travel back to Dean Court later in the campaign. If Szoboszlai does get on tonight though, don’t be surprised to see any extra spring in his step. Watch out, Milos!
