Neil Mellor has lauded Dominik Szoboszlai’s ball-running abilities, with the Liverpool midfielder in top form against Nottingham Forest on Sunday.
Speaking to LFCTV GO, the former Anfield striker was impressed with the 23-year-old’s performance on the weekend, with Szoboszlai assisting twice in a 3-0 win against Steve Cooper’s side.
As well as usual praise for his midfield performance, Mellor was taken aback by Szoboszlai’s strength when on the ball, with the Hungarian proving himself to be quite the athlete.

Indeed, the former Bundesliga star has been a revelation for Liverpool, and pundits are now starting to take note on how good Szoboszlai’s overall game now is.
Mellor said: “What I really like about him is he is such a strong runner with the ball and he sets us off on the attack, only Darwin Nunez beat him for sprints forward on the day.
“He just reads the game really well, intercepts really well and he fits what Liverpool is all about, he is influencing games really well.”
Szoboszlai’s athleticism has been key for Liverpool

Szoboszlai’s reputation as a dead-ball specialist was well known before the Hungarian had moved to Anfield, yet few would have expected the midfielder to be as athletic as he is.
A dream player for any manager, Szoboszlai’s fitness has proved the difference maker for Liverpool already this season, though injuries could be on the horizon if Jurgen Klopp isn’t careful.
Yet Szoboszlai’s physicality on the pitch has been something else, and few Liverpool fans would have predicted the Hungarian to be as good as he is on the ball when running at speed.
