Liverpool reportedly offered less than Manchester City this summer in their attempts to sign Jude Bellingham.
According to journalist Miquel Delaney, the Reds and Pep Guardiola’s side both made offers for the England international during the window, with Real Madrid ultimately winning the race for the midfielder.
Winning the Kopa Trophy last night and already being bookmarked as a favourite for the Ballon d’Or next year, Bellingham’s spell in Spain has been nothing short of incredible.
The 20-year-old has already bagged an astonishing 13 goals in 13 games for Los Blancos, with Bellingham becoming something of a god in the Spanish capital for supporters.
And for Liverpool, all they can do is sit from the sideline and ponder what might have happened had they had the finances to sign Bellingham, with the Reds the leading club for the midfielder for months.
Bellingham could become Liverpool’s biggest transfer failure

Before Liverpool dropped out of the race for Bellingham, the Reds looked like the strong favourites to land the former Borussia Dortmund superstar this summer.
And now some months after the saga, the midfielder could soon become the greatest transfer failure in Liverpool’s modern history, with Bellingham smashing records with Madrid on a seemingly weekly basis.
Indeed, the midfielder could still end up at Liverpool given his age, yet there’s no denying that the Reds shot themselves in the foot this summer over Bellingham, who could soon win a Ballon d’Or.
