Ben Doak will reportedly miss Liverpool’s Premier League clash today against Nottingham Forest having missed Thursday’s European fixture.

According to the Liverpool Echo, the Scottish youth international will again fail to make Jurgen Klopp’s matchday squad after already missing Liverpool’s 5-1 win against Toulouse in the UEFA Europa League.

Lauded as ‘unbelievable’ by former Liverpool midfielder James Milner, Doak is easily one of Liverpool’s most exciting prospects and a winger who is slowly making a name for himself in the first-team.

At 17-years-old, Doak already looks like a player who has the entire world at his feet, with the winger on course to enjoy quite a career for club and country.

However, this latest injury setback will be an annoyance to Doak, who has now missed two key opportunities to play more senior minutes at Liverpool.

Indeed, Forest at home this afternoon and Thursday’s Europa League clash could have been ideal for Klopp to give Doak more playing time, yet the winger can now only watch from the sidelines today.

Injuries can be costly for young players, and Doak and Liverpool will hope that this latest setback only lasts for a few games.

The winger has been itching to play regularly for Liverpool having made a mockery of the youth teams since joining from Celtic, and Doak could have easily featured today.

And for the club and the winger, they will hope to see Doak back on the pitch soon, with some key games coming up where the forward could be of great use.
