Bundesliga top scorer Serhou Guirassy was watching Liverpool last night, as they beat Toulouse 5-1.

Guirassy has been one of the stories of the season in European football. Having played just eight games in the German top division, the 27-year-old has scored 14 times. Remarkable.

You might wonder where Guirassy has found such goal scoring talent from. Well, according to his Instagram story last night, Liverpool actually hold the answer.

Sharing a video of Wataru Endo’s headed goal against Toulouse, Guirassy tags in his former Stuttgart teammate, claiming “I learned how to score from you my friend.” Love it.

Guirassy loving Endo goal

We can laugh at Guriassy suggesting Endo is his goal scoring hero, but the truth is that the Japan captain actually has a decent scoring record.

He might not have the look of a player who will get many goals, and he isn’t exactly Erling Haaland. But perhaps we can expect a few more from Endo this season.

The 30-year-old scored five times for Stuttgart last season, that wasn’t a million miles from Guirassy’s eleven in the same team.

Endo scored four goals the year before, and three in 2020/21.

If we can compare that to say, Fabinho, who’s job he is so far mimicking at Liverpool, Endo comes out on top.

Fabinho did score five Premier League goals during the 2021/22 season, but two of those were penalties. Across the other two of the last three seasons, the Brazilian didn’t score at all.

In fact, in 219 games for Liverpool, Fabinho scored 11 times. Endo got 14 for Stuttgart over 111 appearances.

Again, he’s not Haaland – or Guirassy – but there’s some evidence to suggest that the Japanese can add a few more goals to this Liverpool team.

With the forward line that the Reds currently have, they don’t need too much help in that regard. But in games like last night where the deadlock just needs to be broken, Endo could come in useful.

As for Guirassy, he’s really one to watch this year. Keep up this kind of form and the big boys will all want a piece soon.
