Toulouse defender Mikkel Desler has been spotted raving about the quality of Liverpool’s pitch.
Desler will be part of the Toulouse squad visiting Anfield this evening, as they face Liverpool in the Europa League.
Before that though, the French club’s official Twitter page shared a video of their players and coach walking out to inspect the Anfield pitch last night.
“Who would have imagined us one, two or three years ago discovering one of the temples of world football this evening for the second time in our history?” Toulouse’s post read.
Right-back Desler was equally impressed. Squatting down to touch the grass, the 28-year-old was in awe at the quality.
“Yeah, it is perfect,” said the Dane. “Probably the best pitch I’ve ever seen.” Lovely.
Toulouse in awe at Anfield arrival
Say what you want about Liverpool playing in the Europa League, but there has certainly been some wholesome content generated off the back of it.
Last time out, we had Alexis Mac Allister coming up against his brother Kevin for the very first time.
This week, Toulouse are the visitors having been through a rollercoaster couple of years.
After being relegated to Ligue 2 in 2020, the Violets bounced back in 2022. Then, under the guidance of coach Philippe Montanier, they won their first ever Coupe de France last season to earn a place in Europe.
With Spanish coach Carles Martinez Novell taking over from Montanier, Toulouse currently sit 10th in Ligue 1. Respectable.

Funnily though, tonight won’t actually be the French side’s first visit to Anfield. Some will recall that they actually faced Liverpool in the Champions League qualifiers back in 2007.
Against a team featuring the likes of Johan Elmander and Andre-Pierre Gignac, the Reds ran out 4-0 winners. Goals coming from Peter Crouch, Sami Hyypia and a brace from Dirk Kuyt.
A similar result may be expected from the Liverpool supporters, but it may not be quite so straightforward.
With Toulouse players and fans alike in awe at visiting the famous stadium, the Reds will have to be completely focused.
