Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing Real Sociedad defender Robin Le Normand, with Manchester United also in the race.

TeamTalk claim that the Reds have taken note of the La Liga and UEFA Champions League centre-back, who turns 27-years-old next month.

Lauded by Spanish manager Manolo Marquez as a ‘fast’ player, Le Normand has made close to 200 appearances in all competitions for Sociedad since coming through the club’s academy in 2018.

And a major European move could now be on the cards for Le Normand, with Liverpool now considering the Spanish defender as a potential recruit in January.

Indeed, Jurgen Klopp’s side are desperate for defensive additions in the winter window, and Le Normand could be an ideal quick-fix solution to Liverpool’s current problems.

However, with a release clause of €50m (£43m), the defender won’t be cheap, and Liverpool might feel like their limited resources are better off going elsewhere on a younger purchase.

Signing a defender at the peak of their powers might not be what Liverpool had in mind in January, yet Le Normand could be an appealing option.

The defender has been a consistent fixture for Sociedad, one of the most interesting sides in all of Europe and a club that are firmly on the rise.

And for Liverpool, Le Normand could be a wildcard signing in January that might be exactly what the Reds have been missing in their defensive ranks.
