Norbert Elgert has urged Leroy Sane to stay at Bayern Munich amid reports that Liverpool are interested in signing the winger.

Speaking to Goal, the former Schalke 04 youth coach weighed in on the current conversation surrounding Sane’s future, with the winger linked with a move away from Bayern.

Liverpool have been strongly linked with a move to the Germany international as a potential replacement next year for Mohamed Salah, who looks set to leave for Saudi Arabia.

Lauded as ‘world-class’ by the Bundesliga’s official website, Sane would be quite the signing for Liverpool if they can get a deal over the line for the winger.

However, Elgert has now urged his former player to snub any transfer interest next year to stay at Bayern, where the winger has been impressive this season.

Elgert said: “With his style of play, he would make every top international and domestic team stronger. In my opinion, he is currently in the best of hands at FC Bayern.”

Sane is currently enjoying arguably his best season yet with Bayern, with the 27-year-old hitting seven goals in all competitions already for Thomas Tuchel’s side.

Yet for Liverpool, they should still feel tempted to test Bayern’s resolve on Sane, with a tempting offer something that the German giants could consider next year.

Moreover, Liverpool could have the funds from a potential Salah sale to match whatever Bayern are demanding for Sane, a prospect that could be an exciting one for Anfield supporters.
