Liverpool are reportedly keeping tabs on Atheltic Club star Nico Williams, with the striker’s contract expiring at the end of this season.

According to 90min, the Reds are one of four Premier Leagues monitoring the Spanish international’s situation at the La Liga side, with Williams yet to commit to a new deal.

The second-fasted player at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Williams is regarded by many as one of the best attacking prospects in Europe having established himself for both club and country.

Lauded by Total Football Analysis as a ‘devestating’ player, the 21-year-old has been earmarked as superstar for the future, with Liverpool’s interest perhaps no real surprise.

And with Mohamed Salah set to leave Anfield next summer, Williams could be a perfect signing for Liverpool, especially if the forward fails to sign a new contract with Athletic.

Indeed, the youngster is primed to explode at one of Europe’s biggest clubs, and Liverpool could be a dream destination for Williams under Jurgen Klopp.

Although Williams is yet to score in the league this season, there’s no denying that the Basque youngster is a clear talent for the future.

And for Liverpool, the forward could be a perfect long-term signing for the squad, especially if Salah does pack up and head to Saudi Arabia next year.

With interest from rival clubs hitting their peak, Liverpool need to step up their own pursuit for Williams, with the forward exactly what Klopp should be looking for in the market.
