Rio Ferdinand has praised Harvey Elliott after the Liverpool midfielder’s performance against Everton this weekend.
Speaking on TNT Sports, the former Manchester United defender lauded the England youth international after his cameo off the bench in the Merseyside Derby.
Ferdinand said: “The one today that I thought had one of the biggest impacts was Harvey Elliott when he came on. I thought he was tremendous when he came on, touches, confidence, that bit of guile.”

Coming on just past the hour mark, the 20-year-old added some much-needed energy and enthusiasm to Liverpool’s midfield after a slow start for the hosts.
However, Elliott’s impact off the bench clearly had an impact, with Mohamed Salah scoring from the spot 15 minutes later and then adding a second deep into stoppage time.
With the UEFA Europa League back this week, Elliott could now be a nailed-on starter for Jurgen Klopp, with the midfielder showing why he is such an exciting prospect.
Liverpool used Elliott perfectly against Everton

Elliott’s standing in the Liverpool squad is yet to be truly defined, yet the midfielder showed exactly what he’s capable of this weekend against Everton.
The former Fulham wonderkid changed the entire dynamic of the game with his impressive cameo from the bench, with Elliott swinging the fixture firmly into Liverpool’s favour.
And more will be expected from the youngster in the coming weeks, with matches coming thick and fast for the Reds in both the Premier League and in cup competitions.
