Liverpool will come out on top in a tight Merseyside Derby on Saturday lunchtime.

The Reds take on the Blues at Anfield looking to bounce back from two games without a win. Another post-international break early kick-off isn’t ideal, but it does mean victory will take Liverpool top of the Premier League table.

And according to former England and Arsenal goalkeeper David Seaman, that’s exactly what will happen. Speaking on his Seaman Says podcast, the 60-year-old has backed Liverpool to edge it.

“I’m going to go 2-1 Liverpool,” says the pundit, when asked for a prediction. A clean sheet would be nice, but we’d take it!

Liverpool backed to pip Everton

After two games without a win, there is a little pressure on Liverpool tomorrow.

There were plenty of mitigating factors for not beating both Tottenham and Brighton away from home, but it does leave the Reds slightly off the pace.

Nevertheless, victory on Saturday would be a massive shot in the arm. It would put them top of the table with their rivals all set to play later in the weekend.

With Nottingham Forest at home next Sunday followed by a trip to Luton Town and a home clash with Brentford, the Reds have a favourable run of fixtures.

All being well, Liverpool really should win all four of those games, before they head to the Etihad to take on Manchester City.

Obviously, we can’t predict the future, but 12 points would surely put the Reds in a very strong position ahead of that enormous match.

Fail to win against Everton though, and there’ll be big pressure on that nice little run. The Blues have their tails up and will travel to Anfield quietly confident. It’s up to Liverpool to shut that down. We’ll take a win whatever way it comes.
