What Liverpool’s board actually think about Everton building a new stadium

Liverpool are not in the least bit worried about the impact Everton’s brand-new stadium could have.

The Blues are currently in the process of building the state of the art Bramley Moore Dock stadium in the city. It’s set to hold 52,000 and will be a big step forward for the club.

But while Toffees fans may be dreaming of future success in the shiny new arena, The Athletic claim that the Reds are not bothered at all.

Instead, the Liverpool ‘hierarchy’ have reportedly told the outlet that Anfield’s own expansion means there’s nothing to worry about.

Furthermore, the Reds bosses are said to see Everton as little more than another relegation struggler.

It’s claimed that ‘little time’ is spent thinking of ways to outperform their city rivals. There’s reportedly a view that the ‘chaos’ surrounding the Blues has allowed this to ‘happen naturally.’

Having said that, there is still claimed to be an acknowledgment that Everton can raise their game on the pitch and compete in a one-off game. Nevertheless, in the long-term, the old rivals are reportedly not seen as a ‘competitive concern.’

Liverpool brush off Everton concern

There are perhaps three trains of thought on how Everton’s new stadium will impact Liverpool.

Some Reds fans will no doubt be of the same view as the club itself seemingly is – that whatever the Blues do is virtually of no concern to them.

Their off-field issues in terms of ownership mean that they aren’t likely to be a threat anytime soon. New stadium or no new stadium.

There will be those who disagree with that, though. A beautiful new place to play football isn’t a guarantee of any kind of success – just ask Tottenham – but it could certainly help Everton become a more attractive proposition to new players.

Improvement in infrastructure could trickle through the club and revitalise them once again.

And finally, there will be a portion of Liverpool fans who would perhaps love to see Bramley Moore Dock kickstart Everton into life.

The city needs its two teams. A thriving Everton can lead to a thriving Liverpool. Goodison Park is an iconic place that will perhaps never be matched. But with two world-class stadiums in the same city, it could be a new, brilliant chapter for football on Merseyside.
