Schalke 04 have reportedly put a £12m asking price on Assan Ouedraogo amid growing rumours that Liverpool are interested.

According to journalist Florian Plettenberg, the German giants want as much as €15m (£12m) for their 17-year-old wonderkid, with AC Milan and Bayern Munich also interested in Ouedraogo.

Praised by Football Talent Scout as an ‘intelligent’ player, Ouedraogo is making quite a name for himself with Schalke in the German second-tier.

So much so that the teenager is now one of the most wanted players in all of Germany, with Liverpool now in the chase to sign Ouedraogo next year.

As per Plettenberg’s reporting, though, the teenager wants to play regular football, something Jurgen Klopp’s side will struggle to offer, especially if they qualify for the UEFA Champions League.

And as a result, the likes of Bayern or Milan could be more appealing options for Ouedraogo, with Liverpool already at a disadvantage for the 17-year-old prospect.

£12m for a 17-year-old midfielder is quite a bargain in this day and age, yet with Ouedraogo keen to be a regular somewhere else, Liverpool could already be stuffed in their attempts to sign the teenager.

As we know, the Reds overhauled their midfield this summer, and Klopp might be unwilling to give so much responsibility to a 17-year-old who has only just broken into the professional game.

Indeed, Ouedraogo would be quite the signing for Liverpool, but the timing of everything could not be worse for the Anfield giants.
