Liverpool reportedly think they are in the mix for the Premier League title, with the Reds expected to make at least two signings in January to maintain pace.

According to journalist Toby Cudworth, the Anfield side are looking to add to their squad in the winter window with Liverpool looking to aim high in the Premier League.

Jurgen Klopp’s side have been impressive in the opening eight games of the season, yet looking at the squad, it is clear that Liverpool will need to spend in January if they’re to compete for the title.

And that’s something that could already be in the pipeline, with Cudworth saying about Liverpool’s January plans: “Liverpool have started the season well.

“Given Man City’s early failings, Liverpool think they can be in the mix for the title so in January I would expect them to try and sign a centre-back and a defensive midfielder and maybe another player on top of that, depending on what’s available to them.

“But those are the two areas that I think Jurgen Klopp would want to address first and that’s not to say that they didn’t have a summer window in the end, because I think they did.”

Liverpool’s start to the season has probably caught the club themself by surprise, with few fans expecting the Reds to be chasing the likes of Manchester City and Arsenal for the title.

And if the Anfield side are to solidify their status as title challengers, funds will have to be spent in January, with defence an area of the squad that is in need of reinforcements.

Whilst Liverpool likely won’t go crazy, one or two quality additions could mean the world for Klopp’s side, and supporters should start beginning of a title charge in the new year.
