FC Barcelona are reportedly scouting Royal Antwerp teenager Arthur Vermeeren, with Liverpool also tracking the midfielder.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Catalan giants have entered the race for the 18-year-old ‘sensation’, with Juventus also keeping tabs on Vermeeren.

The teenager has established himself as one of Europe’s most exciting young talents having played a key role last season in Antwerp’s title win and subsequent return to the UEFA Champions League.

With Vermeeren continuing to star for Antwerp, interest is beginning to mount for the teenager, and Barcelona could now provide Liverpool with some strong competition for the youngster.

Indeed, the Reds are still in the market for a midfielder despite signing four in the summer, and Vermeeren would be an exciting addition for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

However, Barcelona’s scouting mission on the Belgian teenager could be a big problem for Liverpool, with Vermeeren a target that might be too good to miss out on.

Vermeeren is easily one of the most exciting prospects in all of European football, and Liverpool can’t allow the midfielder to slip through their fingers.

The teenager is almost certain to leave Antwerp next year having now experienced Champions League nights, and Barcelona could be appealing for Vermeeren despite interest from Liverpool.

As a result, the Reds simply have to get a move on now for Vermeeren, who can’t be allowed to sign for Barcelona next summer based on his astronomical potential.
