Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson was in good form for Scotland last night, until injury ruined his evening.
Robertson had been leading the Scots in a superb Euro 2024 qualifying campaign so far. After five games heading into last night’s visit to Spain, Steve Clarke’s side had won them all.
The trip to Spain was always going to be tough, though. And ultimately they succumbed to a 2-0 defeat. But according to The Herald, that wasn’t before a decent performance from Robertson.

The 29-year-old was reportedly ‘very effective’ in both defence and attack for Scotland before disaster struck, for both Robbo and for Liverpool.
After ‘linking up well’ with his teammates, Robertson is said to have landed ‘awkwardly’ on his shoulder. Withdrawn with the score level at 0-0, the Reds defender had to watch on as his countrymen battled on in vain. Let’s hope it’s nothing serious.
Robertson picks up injury
The good news is that after a disappointing outing against Brighton last weekend, Robertson sounds like he had a better night against Spain.
Obviously, the bad news is that he probably now won’t get the chance to build on that against Everton next Saturday.
According to The Athletic this morning, Robertson will now head back to Liverpool to undergo a scan.

Clearly, the results of that will determine exactly how long he’ll miss for the Reds. But it is also noted in the report that the Scotland captain will likely face a ‘spell’ on the sidelines.
In the meantime, Kostas Tsimikas will be expected to fill-in for Robertson while he’s away. Let’s hope the Greek comes through his own international break without incident.
Beyond that, it may now open the door for highly-rated youngster Luke Chambers to get some more minutes under his belt.
If Robertson is out for any length of time, Chambers will likely pick up Tsimikas’ Europa League and Carabao Cup minutes. Exciting as that may be, we could do with our No.26 back as soon as possible. Get well soon, Robbo.
