Takumi Minamino has claimed that his time at Liverpool was a ‘great experience’ for him.
Minamino had a bit of a mixed two-and-a-half years as a Liverpool player. Although he was vital to two trophy wins, the Japan international also never quite lived up to full billing.
Nevertheless, he’s fondly remembered at Anfield for his part in a successful period for the club. And speaking via Beanymansports, it’s clear that the now Monaco player looks back on his time with the Reds with equal fondness.

“It [going to Liverpool] was a great experience for me,” says the 28-year-old. “We won the Premier League and two cups – Carabao and FA Cup. For me this is a very important experience as a football player, it’s the most impressive memory for me.
“Anfield is one of the best stadiums in the world I think. This atmosphere and if you score in this stadium as a Liverpool payer it’s amazing, I’ll never forget that feeling.”
Minamino looks back on Liverpool stint
It’s nice to see that Minamino has no regrets from his stint at Liverpool. Although he was perhaps never going to be a key player for the Reds, there was always a feeling that the Japanese was a little underused by Jurgen Klopp.
In the end though, his Liverpool story was undoubtedly a successful one. 14 goals in 55 games and Premier League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup winners medals secured, as well as a Champions League runners-up gong.
For the £7m or so Liverpool paid Salzburg for Minamino in 2020, you couldn’t ask for much more.

It’s also pleasing to see that the former Red is now doing well over in Monaco. Taki struggled last season, starting just 10 Ligue 1 games and failing to complete 90 minutes a single time.
In retrospect, it’s not hard to see why with those kinds of stats he only got four goal contributions across the season – one goal and three assists.
Just a couple of months into the campaign and Minamino has already bettered those numbers. He has gone a little dry over recent weeks, but has three goals and three assists in seven games for the Monegasque’s.
Whatever he goes on to do in the game though, it’s for his little spell at Liverpool that Taki may be best remembered. He wasn’t here long, but he made an impact, and we made an impact on him. Once a Red, always a Red.
