Liverpool think they can sign ‘dynamic’ 22-year-old soon, they have great relationship with his club

Liverpool believe their great relationship with Fluminense can help them land the signing of Andre Trindade.

The Reds have been continually linked with Andre, with latest reports putting Liverpool as big favourites to add him to their squad in January.

And according to the Liverpool ECHO, they may just have a secret ‘advantage’ in order to make that happen.

They claim that having done business with Fluminense in the past, the Reds actually have a pre-existing working relationship with the Brazilian side.

The deals to send Allan Souza on-loan there in 2019 and to sign Marcelo Pitaluga the following year could reportedly potentially work in Liverpool’s favour with Andre.

And it looks like they may need that helping hand. The ECHO claim that the Reds certainly haven’t ‘parked’ their interest in Andre, and may well try and sign him in January.

The 22-year-old, described by football analysts Breaking The Lines as ‘dynamic,’ is having a very good season with Fluminense, though. Consequently, it’s claimed that there could be a ‘level of competition’ in getting his signature.

Liverpool forging Fluminense link

It’s a strange quirk that Liverpool seem to be doing most of their direct South American business with the same club.

Supporters have often called on the Reds to look further into the market in the likes of Brazil and Argentina. European rivals have been doing it to great effect for years, while Premier League sides are now starting to cotton on, too.

But through it all, Liverpool have tended to prefer to allow South American players a ‘settling in’ period in Europe before buying them from elsewhere.

They broke that rule with Pitaluga in 2020 though, seeing the goalkeeper as a good enough prospect to sign him straight from Fluminense aged just 17.

And although Allan actually joined from Internacional, Flu were the only Brazilian side Liverpool dealt with during his raft of loans between 2015 and 2019.

Another little quirk is that one of the Reds’ best Brazilian’s off all-time, Fabinho, also came through the ranks at Fluminense.

So, there is a little bit of a link, a little bit of history between the clubs. The signing of Andre would be the biggest business between them yet, and may further cement a burgeoning – and very useful – relationship for Liverpool.
