Michael Owen has described Darwin Nunez as a ‘rare’ player for Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.
The word ‘chaos’ has been attributed to the 24-year-old following his big-money transfer to Liverpool last summer.
For Michael Owen, on the one hand, Darwin Nunez gets him off his seat, but on the other, he ‘makes you pull your hair out’, as he told Premier League Productions (08/10/23 at 1:45 pm).
Everyone can see the all-action quality of his game, it’s just a case of calming everything down and adding consistency to it.
That will come in time and allowing Jurgen Klopp and his coaching staff to build a player that can become Liverpool’s main guy in years to come.
Michael Owen feels that Darwin Nunez can reach those levels, but as of this moment, it’s one end of the extreme to the other.

“He is one of those rare players that makes you pull your hair out and makes you jump off your seat in equal measure,” said Owen.
“I think he has got so many gaps in his game. He could do with a bit more coaching. A bit more experience. What he has got are attributes that you simply can’t coach.
“He has got phenomenal drive. Desire. He’s very direct. Quick and strong. He’s a beautiful volleyer of the ball.
“But then, one or two things he does and you think ‘how did he do that?’ His touch sometimes. There is a player in there. He could make somebody look silly. In two or three years, it sounds strange at his age, he should be the finished article. He’s a rough diamond. We will wait and see.”
Nunez will come good
As of this moment, the signs are positive and he is showcasing improvement, just cite back to his performance at Newcastle United.
What also helps Nunez is that he has someone like Mohammed Salah in the team.
The Egypt star is the reliable goalscorer and performer, so it allows Nunez to be a little indifferent and time to build into a player that in a few years’ time will destroy teams on a regular basis.
