Harvey Elliott says he’s been ‘blown away’ by what Liverpool fans have just done

Harvey Elliott has thanked Liverpool fans for raising a significant amount for charity.

Elliott is a good egg, that’s for sure. The 20-year-old recently put the use of his executive box up for auction for Liverpool’s home match against Nottingham Forest at the end of the month, with all proceeds going towards Claire’s House hospice.

And according to the Liverpool ECHO, the fundraising was very effective indeed. Reds fans clubbed together to raise £16,338 for the hospice, which cares for seriously and terminally ill children and their families across the North West.

It’s a great effort for a great cause. And commenting on the donation, Elliott thanked Liverpool fans and vowed to continue to help the local community.

“I just want to thank everyone who donated for all your support in raising funds for a very special cause,” said the Reds No.19. “I’ve been blown away by your generosity.

“The staff at Claire House do an amazing job and this money will make a big difference to so many children’s lives.

“Playing for this club means so much to me and I think we’ve all got a duty to give back and make a difference in the local community. YNWA.”

Elliott does his bit

There will always be those who feel that footballers could be doing more with their positions of wealth and influence. And in plenty of cases, that’s probably true.

But that could never be said about Harvey Elliott. The young man has shown time after time that he is part of the local community and will help wherever he can.

For a man of just 20, he should be commended for stepping in where others do not.

Aside from that though, this also shows just how committed to the club and the area Elliott is.

It’s well known that he was a Liverpool fan growing up. But having been raised in the South, he’s had to watch on from the outside. Now that he’s a part of the community, he’s not thinking twice about helping it.

Having these kinds of people representing the club is always important. ‘Getting the club’ is often a vague statement that can mean many things, or nothing at all. But Elliott clearly does fully understand what playing for this club really entails.

He should be proud of raising money for such a noble cause, and hopefully the funds go on to help children now and into the future. Well done, Harvey!
