Darwin Nunez was an enthusiastic celebrator as Cody Gakpo equalised for Liverpool against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.
Gakpo’s goal brought the Reds back into the game against the odds. Having already seen Curtis Jones harshly sent-off, Luis Diaz wrongly have a goal disallowed, and Son Heung-Min put Spurs ahead, it wasn’t going Liverpool’s way.
In the end it was a day that would end in heartbreak for the Reds. But when Gakpo scored it was some let-off. And as per the Premier League’s official Twitter page, Nunez certainly enjoyed it.
Despite Gakpo nominally taking his place in the starting XI, the Uruguayan was delighted to see his teammate score.
Racing out of his seat on the bench, Nunez pumped his fist in celebration as he ran. The 24-year-old then roared in delight as he clenched both of his fists. Love it.
Darwin shows his passion
Although Jurgen Klopp had confirmed pre-game that Nunez had actually ruled himself out of contention for the Spurs clash, he’ll have still been disappointed to miss it.
A good, goal scoring performance from Gakpo could also affect the Reds’ No.9 place in the team moving forward.
But despite that, Nunez was simply delighted to see Liverpool score. Say what you want about Nunez’s profligacy in-front of goal, but he clearly loves this team and this club.

That passion could once again be seen at the end of the game, when the Uruguay international rallied the travelling support before sending a defiant message on social media.
Although obviously gutted at the nature of the defeat, Liverpool fans were galvanised by the spirit and determination shown by their team.
And though he didn’t get on the pitch in the end, Nunez is the perfect embodiment of that. He may not be perfect, but the former Benfica man gives everything every single time he pulls on the Liverpool shirt. Do that, and supporters will forgive the occasional costly miss.
It’s always welcome to see how Nunez reacts to anything. He clearly isn’t one for hiding his emotions. Only next time, we hope to see him celebrating a goal of his own and a win for the Reds.
