Reported Liverpool target Pedro Neto has the same agent as Reds forward Diogo Jota.
Having previously been linked with a move for Neto, reports have resurfaced this week that Liverpool once again want to sign the 23-year-old.
This time, it’s Football Transfers doing the reporting, and they claim that the Reds are considering Neto should Mohamed Salah make a summer exit.
Interestingly, according to Transfermarkt, as well as being a fellow Wolves alumni, Neto and Jota also share the same representatives – the high-profile Jorge Mendes and his Gestifute agency.
Darwin Nunez is another now represented by the super agent, with former Red Fabinho also a client. Liverpool certainly know who to call when the window opens once again.
Liverpool to cash in Neto connection?
Obviously, it isn’t uncommon for footballer’s to share agents. Just what that means in the wide and complicated world of football transfers is hard to pin down.
But it is worth mentioning that Liverpool do appear to have a good relationship with Jorge Mendes.
There were strong suggestions that the agent had arranged for another of his clients – Matheus Nunes – to move to Anfield this summer upon his move to Wolves in 2022.
In the end that never happened, but that appeared to be more a case of the clubs failing to work things out between them.
So, with Neto in the form that he is, it doesn’t feel like too much of a stretch for Liverpool to have been in touch here. If they feel that the mechanics of the deal can work for them, we wouldn’t be surprised to see a concrete approach take place.
Having been described as being ‘incredible’ by manager Gary O’Neil recently [BBC Sport], Wolves wouldn’t let Neto go on the cheap.
But with a high-profile agent comes the expectation of talking to high-profile suitors. In this form, the former Lazio man won’t be at Molineux too much longer. Given their connections, expect Liverpool to be right in the mix.
