Cody Gakpo is reportedly set to miss ‘several weeks’ of action with Liverpool after sustaining an injury against Tottenham.
According to Dutch journalist Rif Elfrink, the 24-year-old winger could be out for as long as a month after Gakpo went down after scoring in north London this weekend.
Lauded as ‘special’ by Liverpool’s official website, losing out on Gakpo through injury will be a massive blow for Jurgen Klopp’s plans this month.
The Reds face the likes of Brighton & Hove Albion and Everton in the Premier League, with a key UEFA Europa League fixture against Toulouse also on the horizon.
And having Gakpo unavailable is a hammer blow for Liverpool, who also won’t have Diogo Jota to call upon in their next league match after the forward was sent off against Tottenham.
Liverpool having Gakpo out through injury is a massive blow

Gakpo’s importance for Liverpool was highlighted this weekend against Tottenham, with the forward’s goal giving the Reds a glimmer of hope of getting a result in the English capital.
And Klopp not having Gakpo to call upon for as long as a month is nothing short of massive for Liverpool, who will be down one world-class attacker for some huge games.
Whilst the Reds have the numbers to make up for Gakpo’s absence, Liverpool know that the Dutch international being out on the sideline is a big blow, and they will need to adapt in the coming weeks.
